Here at Kitchen Central, located on the edge of San Francisco’s North Beach and Chinatown district, The Kitchen Sisters offer an internship program where individuals from various ages and backgrounds come to learn more about the inner workings of producing radio stories. The program ranges from storytelling and editing workshops to the production of stories and excursions outside of the office. Here are some of the talented people who have interned with us over the past.
The Kitchen Sisters welcome internship inquiries. If you are interested please send us an email with your resume and tell us something about yourself, your skills, your goals and your objectives with regards to working with us. We do not have any employment opportunities available at this time but we welcome your query and keep all resumes on file for future projects and needs. Please contact us directly for details about our workshop / master class sessions.
COLLEGE & YOUTH COURSES
The Kitchen Sisters give workshops and special presentations at universities, schools and youth organizations around the country. We have taught courses in documentary and creative radio production at The Graduate School of Journalism at UC, Berkeley (take a look at some of their class projects) and for the UC Santa Cruz Social Documentation Program.
We offer several workshops a year focusing on interviewing techniques, miking, sound gathering, audio production, use of archival audio, and techniques for building a creative, compelling story. These sessions are designed for people who want to acquire and hone their skills for radio, video, online storytelling, oral histories, audio slide shows, family histories, museum exhibits, news, documentaries, podcasts, and other multimedia platforms. We offer classes in San Francisco and Santa Cruz and are also available by request to teach workshops for schools, universities, radio stations and community groups.
